Room 9 News~ October 9

MURAL PROJECT
Room 9 had the opportunity to learn about the primary and secondary colors on the color wheel by painting their own color wheels. They also painted part of part of a United States map with complementary colors in preparation for painting the mural on the playground. This week our painting day will be on Wednesday. Be sure to have your child wear clothing you don't mind getting paint on.

GONOODLE
We often take movement breaks during the day to get the wiggles out. Last week students learned to do the "Dab".

FIELD TRIPS
Pics Photos - School Bus Images Clip ArtRooms 7, 8 and 9 second graders will be going on a field trip to Detering Orchard this Friday. Please remind your child to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a warm coat. We will be walking through an apple orchard and a pumpkin patch.
All second graders have been invited to attend, The Lion King, a performance by the Rose Children's Theater on November 1. Mrs. Martin, our music teacher, will be accompanying us.

VOLUNTEERS, GET READY!
Classroom volunteers are scheduled to start next week. If you signed up to volunteer in our classroom, I will be contacting you to arrange a quick orientation before your start date. If you did not have a chance to sign up on Meet the Teacher Night, and you would like to be a regular classroom volunteer, please contact me to schedule a time.
PTO is always looking for volunteers to help with the activities and events. If you can lend a hand, please contact our PTO.

BREAKFAST
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially for young developing minds to fuel up for rigorous day of learning.
Mornings can be very hectic trying to get everyone ready for school and work, and sometimes there just isn't enough time for a healthy breakfast at home. I am guilty of grabbing a pepsi, or a Pop-Tart, among other not-so-healthy foods on rushed mornings. Did you know that the Ridgeview cafeteria serves a nutritious breakfast every morning at 8:15? The cost of this most important meal of the day is only $1.25! Every student is welcome to have breakfast at school (the $1.25 cost is debited from their lunch account). All they have to do is be at the outside cafeteria doors by 8:15. They may find me sitting at a table enjoying a warm stack of french toast, milk and yogurt!
